Pay what you can

At Lumos Yoga & Barre, we believe that fitness should be accessible to anyone who would like to participate. Our Pay What You Can classes are an opportunity for people to pay what they would like for yoga classes.

How It Works:

Sign up online for one of the Pay What You Can Classes - register as unpaid, and bring a cash donation to the class - we suggest $5.

All proceeds from these classes go to a charity/organization. On Tuesday nights from 6:00-7:00 PM, our class will benefit a number of national organizations - upon arriving, you can denote which of the following organizations you would like your donation to go to:

National Organizations:

The Trevor Project

The Brain & Behavior Research Foundation

Breast Cancer Research Foundation

American Civil Liberties Union

Environmental Defense Action Fund

We have also partnered with Roots2Rise, a Philadelphia non-profit that makes available and provides access to yoga and mindfulness. On Sunday evenings from 5:15-6:15 PM, all proceeds will go to Roots2Rise, which supports their mission of offering low-cost public classes at various community facilities, schools, and homeless shelters throughout the Philadelphia area, with a focus on community.

Pay What You Can Classes are important because they allow people who cannot afford the regular drop-in or class package rates up front to be able to participate. The studio is absorbing much of the cost by providing a space for the workout and paying the teacher their regular wages - some studios have the instructor absorb the cost of a donation class. It is our hope that those who can afford to give more will do so, so we can give back to the community while allowing anyone to partake in a fitness class.
