Join us October 18-20, 2018 for Lumos Yoga & Barre’s Barre Teacher Training.
Join Lumos Yoga & Barre Co-Founder Larkin Silverman and Lumos Senior Instructor Sara Witkowski for Lumos’s signature Barre Teacher Training in October 2019! Lumos Barre Teacher Trainees will learn:
How to choreograph and execute a fun, clear, effective full length Barre Class appropriate for all levels and abilities.
To understand and communicate musicality - participants will master teaching to the beat, and feel confident in counting with clarity and precision.
How to craft and curate an effective playlist that facilitates your class sequence from warmup all the way to your final cooldown, encompassing peak efforts as well as easeful periods of recovery.
To develop a thorough understanding of the moves and the modality of Barre, including learning about the history of the Barre Fitness technique.
How to teach students to understand and utilize their breath effectively throughout their movement practice.
How to provide effective, personalized, dynamic and direct cueing and verbal instruction reflective of and parallel to the expected energetic output of the class at any given point in the sequence.
How to speak to clients and lead them in a way that motivates and empowers rather than shames or punishes through genuine support. Participants will learn to teach from a place of non-comparison, non-competition, and respect and affirmation for every individual student.
How to provide safe and clear Hands-On Assists, as a last resort only after verbal and visual corrective cueing is insufficient; learn how to deliver said assists in a safe and gentle manner that is centered on consent, respect, and bodily autonomy.
To understand basic anatomy and proper alignment to demo, perform, and properly teach all moves and exercises. How to center your classes around these key categories so that your classes are safe and prevent injury.
How to choreograph safe, thoughtful sequencing for every class, and be able to offer modifications and alternatives throughout.
How to hold emotional safety for clients while maintaining your scope of practice as a fitness industry professional.
How to provide variations for all bodies, including working with all body types, how to modify moves to support common injuries, how to offer pregnancy modifications, etc.
