Join Philadelphia based Yoga instructor Josie Rosa-Gatlin and empower yourself with the tools to teach safe and empowering Yoga Sculpt classes.
Training will be held on Saturday, May 4th from 11:15 AM - 5:00 PM, and Sunday May 5th from 12:30 - 2:30 PM at Lumos Yoga & Barre, 2001 Green Street, Philadelphia, PA 19130
About Josie Rosa-Gatlin:
For as long as Josie can remember, mindful movement has always been a part of her life and lifestyle. In her first real time away from home, she discovered power vinyasa yoga. Learning to control her breath and connect it with intentional movements was empowering as well as innate. Yoga felt like home to her. In 2008 she attended school for Exercise Science and later worked as a personal trainer. It wasn't until 2013 when, after a life changing event, she moved from NY to Philadelphia to begin her 200 YTT at Power Yoga Works.
Since then, Josie has taught yoga, kickboxing, belly dancing and silver sneakers. She has taught at studios and gyms, parks and rooftops. She has taught seniors, pregnant students, and professional athletes. Over the years, Josie had profound connections with thousands of people and it helped her learn and grow as a yoga teacher. Those connections extend to her community and her family; her husband Michael, and her kids Franklin and Phoenix.
Yoga sculpt is a physically intense practice rooted in the principles of yoga. This innovative yoga fusion workout builds self-awareness over competition.
This course will give you the foundation to teach a safe and effective full body workout that integrates the mindfulness of yoga with the intensity of resistance training. Connect with your breath and conquer challenges on the mat as you learn to intelligently add resistance exercises to a power yoga flow. The study focus is on anatomy, kinesiology, and resistance training form and technique.
Participants must have a fitness or yoga certification.
This Training will cover:
Breakdown of the yoga sculpt class structure (intelligent sequencing of yoga and strength training exercises)
Benefits of yoga and strength training
Using yoga as a foundation for yoga sculpt (planks, abdominal lock, breath work, mind body connection)
Anatomy (bones, muscles, ligaments, physical planes) & Kinesiology (mechanics of body movement)
Strength training exercises, form, and techniques
Yogic breath vs Strength training breath
Yoga Sculpt Voice
Music and rhythm
Practice teach strength training exercises
Saturday May 4th, 11:15 AM - 5:00 PM
11:15-12:15 yoga sculpt class (mandatory and free for training attendants)
Journal prompts will be offered for those taking class to ignite questions and curiosity for the class structure.
Break for lunch and return with journal entry.
Training from 1pm-5pm (with 15 min break)
Sunday May 5th, 12:30 - 2:30 PM
Practice teach partner and round robin style
