Lumos Retreats
You can feel the sense of community when you walk into any of our studios - our staff and instructors know you by name, you often see familiar faces practicing next to you in class, and you catch up with neighbors after class is over. Lumos Retreats are an extension of our studio community and culture - you’re discovering new places and taking part in activities with fellow studio attendees, but leaving as friends and creating memories and bonds that last long after you return home.
Lumos Retreats are fueled by our team’s enthusiasm for exploring new places, passion for curating yoga and fitness classes, and joy in bringing people together as a community. We choose locations that are more “out of the box” - places you may have on a bucket list, or thought about visiting someday. We take on the challenge of finding distinctive locations to stay at, planning and booking activities, and researching local restaurants or chefs to cook nourishing meals. Our retreats are designed so that you return home with a stronger sense of community, new friends, and you feel refreshed and rejuvenated - body, mind, and spirit.

Retreat FAQ’s:
-
We typically host one retreat a year, occasionally we will host a second retreat in a given year. Generally, we look at peak season times to visit our retreat destinations, which are often late Spring/early Summer, and early Fall. Peak seasons are peak for a reason - the weather tends to be the best for outdoor activities and excursions, and we have much less chance of rain or extreme weather interfering with plans.
-
Retreat costs typically range from just under $3000 to $6500, depending on the location and duration. Many venues charge a premium for buying out the space, and/or charge a higher rate during peak season times. Our retreats typically span 4-7 days. Read on for what you can expect to be included in a retreat!

At Lumos, we take a different approach to retreats than most studios. Our retreats may be priced a little higher than other studio retreats, because we include more in the cost of our retreats.
Many studios will host a retreat where your cost only covers accommodations, yoga (or other fitness classes), and meals. Transportation to and from the retreat venue are often not included. Excursions are optional, and are an additional cost, as is the transportation to and from those excursions.
Over the past few years of offering retreats, we’ve started to build in more of those extra costs in each of our retreats. We have found that Lumos retreat attendees love going on the optional excursions and most will sign up for the excursions, but (no surprise here) don’t love all of the additional costs of both the excursion and the transportation, or having to commit to excursions months in advance.
So, we’ve shifted to planning retreats where we do not include additional excursions or activities at an additional cost, rather we are including more excursions and activities in the cost from the start, as well as including all of the transportation costs (both to and from the retreat venue, and to and from excursions and activities). You are going on a retreat to relax and recharge - not to think about a bunch of additional expenses and add-ons and wondering what you will miss out on if you don’t go.

Lumos Retreats include accommodations, yoga/fitness classes, meals at the retreat venue, transportation to and from retreat venues, and several excursions and activities, and transportation to/from them. What isn’t included are your flights, if you choose to do any solo excursions or activities on the free days, and the occasional meal outside of the retreat venue if we are unable to set up a pre-fix menu. Most of our retreats involve one night out at a restaurant to experience living and eating like a local! In some cases, we are able to work with restaurants to create a pre-fix menu that we include in the cost of the retreat.

We offer activities and excursions that are accessible for all levels, that bring the group together, and that are unique to the location we’re staying in. Some examples include hikes in Asheville, a lazy river paddleboat in the mangroves of Costa Rica, a pasta-making class in Italy, and so on.
