Sculpt Classes

What is Sculpt? Some studios say it’s a pilates-inspired workout, while others say it’s a yoga-inspired workout. Sculpt has become an all-inclusive term for a workout class that isn’t clearly defined by a specific modality.

So, we thought it was time we refreshed our description of Sculpt, and refine the types of offerings under this modality. At Lumos, Sculpt is a dynamic movement class, starting and ending with a grounding moment, and in between, instructors will lead a full body workout. Under the umbrella of “Sculpt”, we offer three distinct class styles: Yoga Sculpt, Cardio Sculpt, and Strength Sculpt.

Yoga Sculpt

Rooted in traditional vinyasa yoga, the class will move through a traditional flow sequence, before expanding on the sequence and incorporating in light weights for building strength. From there, the instructor may include a cardio burst and a few non-yoga strengthening moves before moving to the cool down (if it’s a 45 minute class) or savasana (if it’s a 60 minute class)

Cardio Sculpt

This class starts with a basic flow sequence to warm up the body before transitioning into cardio-based movements. These classes focus on repetitive movements to fatigue muscles, and over the course of the class amplifies the heart rate, before ending with a cool down.

Strength Sculpt

This class will also start with a basic flow sequence to warm up the body, before moving into high energy strength training sequences. Instructors will incorporate yoga poses in between strength training sets as active recovery, before ending with a cool down.

What people are saying

“I cannot say enough good things about Lumos! While I have been to many a fitness studio that promises a "community vibe" this place is IT. The teachers are all wonderful and positive and the variety of classes offered can't be beat. A true neighborhood gem!.”
