We’re thrilled to announce the 2026 dates for our Lumos Barre Teacher Training — an empowering, comprehensive program developed by our very own instructors, Jessica Reinhardt and Sara Houser. This training is designed for anyone ready to deepen their practice, refine their understanding of barre technique, and step confidently into the role of instructor. We'll blend hands-on learning, mentorship, and a deep dive into barre fundamentals with our signature approach to intentional, empowering movement. Whether you're looking to lead classes or enrich your personal practice, this training will give you the tools and confidence to step into your voice as an instructor.
At Lumos, we believe that teaching barre is a powerful act of leadership. Our approach is rooted in empowerment, intentional movement, and inclusivity. Throughout this training, you will not only deepen your understanding of barre technique and class structure—you’ll also explore the why behind each cue, sequence, and interaction.
In this training, you will learn:
Musicality - the power of music in Barre
Anatomy in Action: Body Basics for Barre Instructors, including modifications and amplifications
Barre Fundamentals - the positions and movements that make up a barre class
Sequencing and Cueing
The Power of Props
Trauma Conscious Approaches to Movement Practices
How to design and create your own barre classes (not memorizing a script and choreography)
Barre Teacher Training Schedule:
Saturday, May 30th, 12-6 PM (attendees must take either the 8:45 or 9:45 AM Barre class)
Sunday, May 31st, 12:30-5:30 PM (attendees must take the 11:45 AM Barre class)
Saturday, June 13th, 12-6 PM (attendees must take either the 8:45 or 9:45 AM Barre class)
Sunday, June 14th, 12:30-5:30 PM (attendees must take the 11:45 AM Barre class)
You must attend all sessions to complete training. All classes that are required are included in the training.
This training is limited to 6 attendees. Attendees must have taken at least 25 Barre classes in the past 6 months (either at Lumos or another Barre studio), prior to signing up for the training.
Cost of Teacher Training:
$999 Early Bird Registration (before May 1), $1099 after May 1. Registration closes May 15th.
This comprehensive training will span four in-person training dates, and includes our manual, video library of exercises and movements, 8 class credits for use in between and after training weekends*, and a 2 hour mentorship session with one of the training instructors where you'll demo/workshop your class plan and sequencing**.
*8 class credits are to be used in between and in the 2 weeks after training sessions
**2 hour mentorship session will be with one of the training instructors where the trainee will demo/workshop their class plan and sequencing. This can be done between the training weekends, and no later than 2 weeks after of the final training session. This will be done with 1-2 members of the cohort so trainees get more individualized attention and notes.
To complete the training and receive your certificate of completion, participants must test out by demoing a full class to either one of the training instructors, or one of the Lumos Senior Barre instructors. Those interested in teaching at Lumos may use their demo as an audition, but employment is not guaranteed.
