Beginner Classes

Interested in trying yoga or barre, or starting a fitness routine but not sure where to start? We’ve got you covered! While we don’t have dedicated weekly beginner classes, we’ve got some recommendations for what classes and instructors are a great place to start.

If you want to try yoga, we recommend starting with:

  • Stretch & Restore on Mondays and Wednesdays, 7:30-8:30 PM. This gentle and supported practice focuses on the physical body (stretching, strengthening, mobility), and relaxation - there is no sanskrit, breathwork, or meditation.

  • Lumos Flow with Josie (outdoors on Tuesdays at 6:00 PM during the outdoor season, at Green St. on Thursdays at 7:30 PM, and at Parrish St. on Saturdays at 10:15 and 11:30 AM); Lumos Flow with Jule (on Monday at 9:30 AM at Green and Thursday at 9:30 AM at Green and 6:45 PM at Parrish). While all of our instructors teach open-level classes, Josie and Jule particularly enjoy working with beginners and attendees of all ages.

  • Weekly Wind Down on Fridays with Sam L on Fridays at 6:00 PM. This Friday evening class aims to create intentional time to slow down and rest at the end of the work week, through gentle stretches, mindful movement, and intentional breath.

  • Restore on Sundays with Leslee at 7:00 PM. Restorative yoga pairs slower movements with longer holds, using a series of props to help you move passively through seated and reclining postures.

If you want to try Barre, Pilates, or build a more active fitness routine, we recommend starting with:

  • The Barre Essentials on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 AM with Rebecca New to Barre? Check out our Barre Essentials classes - these classes move at a sliiiiightly slower pace but still work all of your muscles, so whether you’re a beginner or have been taking barre forever, you’re still going to feel that shake!

  • Pilates Core Express on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11:00 AM with Ella.. Pilates is a great modality for any level of fitness experience - it focuses on building core strength and stability, learning proper alignment, and improving flexibility.

  • LIIT with RaGina on Tuesdays at 5:30 PM and Fridays at 12:15 PM. LIIT is our branded version of a HIIT (high intensity interval training) workout. This workout is tough - but participants are always encouraged to go at their own pace, and RaGina’s background as a personal trainer means she is used to working with people of all fitness levels and experiences.
