Prenatal & Postpartum Classes

 

Whether you're early on in pregnancy, closer to your due date, fourth trimester, or beyond - join RaGina for Mama’s LIIT and Mama’s Strength, and Alyssa for Prenatal/Postpartum Yoga. These classes are meant to support and strengthen moms to be their best self for themselves and their babies!

These classes are open for parents to bring babies - age limit up to crawling. If bringing a baby, please note that when booking by adding a child to your reservation, or sending a message to our team via the Momence app. We kindly request that if possible, bring baby in a carrier/wrap versus in a stroller since our lobby space is limited!

***Be sure to have clearance from your doctors prior to starting this or any other fitness program.***

Advance registration is required! If we do not have sign ups by 9 PM the night before, class will be cancelled.

If you are pregnant or postpartum and have questions around working out, how to safely work out, types of workouts, how to incorporate movement into your routine during pregnancy or postpartum, or questions around how to movements should feel, we encourage you to book a consult with one of our prenatal/postpartum fitness instructors.

All consults include Q&A with the instructor as well as the instructor demoing exercises for you based on your needs, and having you do the exercises too to make sure they feel okay for your body.

Consults can take place in person at one of the Lumos studios, or virtually via Zoom.

  • Mama's LIIT

    IMama’s LIIT is a version of our classic LIIT class, adapted for pregnant and post-partum bodies. All classes will start with a longer warm up to safely get the body ready for a workout, and will have a primary focus of strengthening the abdominal and pelvic floor muscles for delivery or post delivery. Every class will end with a long stretch and recovery flow. Modifications and progressions of exercises will be provided throughout depending on where you are in YOUR journey! ALL classes are capped at 8 attendees so everyone gets a little more individualized attention.  Attire: Sneakers or Barre Socks required. 

    Mama’s LIIT is on Thursdays at 6:30 PM, at Green Street

  • Prenatal & Postpartum Flow

    This class is a time to connect with your changing body and growing baby in a communal space. We’ll practice deep breathing, supportive alignment and muscle integration to avoid overstretching. Step into this space if you're preparing for pregnancy, during pregnancy and postpartum. Allow yourself to focus on strength over flexibility, creating space for baby (on or off the mat) and becoming attuned to your body. Feel prepared and relaxed for your journey, and encouraged to do what feels right for you that day.

    Prenatal/Postpartum Yoga is on Fridays at 12:15 PM, at Parrish Street

  • Mama's Strong

    Do you want to maintain or develop total body strength during your pregnancy? Have you already had your baby and want to get your strength back? Mama’s STRONG is a functional total body strength training class that is for prenatal and postpartum moms. Long sets and challenging weights are used in this class to build or rebuild strong muscles through utilizing your core, pelvic floor and breath as we squat, lunge, curl and press our way to being healthy and strong. This class compliments our Mama’s LIIT class which is cardio interval training. No prior fitness experience needed.  If you have a baby carrier, please bring it! RaGina will incorporate exercises using the carrier for those who bring one. Attire: Sneakers or Barre Socks required.

  • Open Level Class Suggestions

    Our open-level weekly classes are a great option if the dedicated prenatal and postpartum classes don’t fit into your schedule. Yoga and Barre are great workouts for all trimesters and for returning back to a fitness routine post-baby, and our instructors who have completed prenatal/postpartum trainings or are parents themselves are happy to provide options for you!
